... After School Program Over 15 years ago, the members of Grace Church and the Incarnation saw a need within their community and began an outreach program for neighborhood youth. This was the birth of the Welcome Center After School Program. Since that time, approximately 35 children in grades Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade attend annually. The staff plan various activities for the students centered around music, movement, cooking, character education, literature, sports, art and homework help. Working cooperatively as a team is an integral part of the Welcome Center’s mantra. For parents, the Welcome Center is a safe, educational, reasonable, and fun “home away from home” for their children to be a part of each day of the week. Whether boys and girls are enjoying their daily snack, or creating their latest Lego build, the Welcome Center is a warm place to be at the day’s end.
...Summer Camp Experience
In the Summer of 2006, the staff of the Welcome Center After School Program along with the Pastor and Board watched a vision come to life. They opened their doors for the first time during the months of June, July, and August to 32 “campers.” These boys and girls range in age from four through twelve. The ten week experience revolves around a central theme, which is carried over into the numerous activities of water play, sports, reading, art, cooking, and movement. Campers take weekly trips to the shore, zoo, aquarium, and the like. Each day is jam packed with fun from the sun’s early rising until its 6PM setting. Guest visitors even come in to teach campers about Science or Yoga. Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack are also part of this camp experience at no additional charge to families! The best aspect of the Welcome Center’s Summer Camp Experience is that the same safe, fun, caring community of people is ever present.
